Are you evaluating your digital marketing and wondering why your ads aren’t getting the same results that they used to?
Your audience may be experiencing Ad Fatigue. Ad Fatigue is when the people who are seeing your ads have already seen them so much, to the point where they aren’t interested anymore. They may simply scroll past your ads, not giving them a second thought. This causes your Clickthrough Rates (A metric measuring how effective your ad is at getting people to click) to suffer, and ultimately, your ROI to fall behind.
This is a common problem when doing digital marketing of any kind, and there are some simple steps you can take to revitalize your digital campaigns.
How do we avoid Ad Fatigue? What’s the best strategy?
We broke it down into 5 easy steps you can take to keep your audience engaged. These changes aren’t groundbreaking, but can give you a great place to start testing and seeing what your audience is responding to!
1 – Edit Ad Text
Try swapping out the phrasing of your ads to include more buzzwords. Keep in mind that while these ads represent your business, you want to cater the messaging to speak to the people you want clicking! For more information about messaging strategies, check out this blog post.
2- Swap Ad Colors
It may be as simple as giving your ads a quick makeover by switching the colors of your ad. If your brand’s colors are blue and orange, and you’ve been mostly using blue on your ads, try using orange. The ads themselves may not always need to align with your brand’s color scheme, so don’t be afraid to try some new colors. Think about what catches your eye when scrolling!
3- Choose Exciting, Yet Relevant Imagery
Different platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google) have different imagery that tends to be the most effective. It’s important to keep in mind what users are typically doing on each platform when designing your ads for that platform. On LinkedIn, people are typically looking for career connections or professional articles, while on Facebook, users are more likely to be checking in on their friends to see what they’re up to. Try using more professional images on LinkedIn, and more fun images on Facebook.
4- Change Your Call To Action
This is a great chance to be creative! If your Call To Action on your ad is “Call Now”, maybe consider making it more conversational. Try something like “Get In Touch”, or “Reach Out”. Experiment with different phrasings and you may be surprised what people respond to!
5- Try Different Styles of Ads
If you have been doing single-image ads for a while, it may be time to try a carousel ad, which allows for users to scroll through multiple images. If image ads just don’t seem to be working, it could be time to spice up your strategy with a video!
