While on a recent trip, my family and I were introduced to a native flower that looks purple, but turns bright orange when crushed between your fingers. It leaves a bright orange stain on the fingers that the tour guide says sparks one, universal response… “Cheetos!”
It was a pretty cool thing to witness. Yes, I just saw a purple flower turn orange in front of my eyes, but if I’m being honest, my mind went to the Cheetos response. If the stain on our fingers would have been purple, we would have likely had no response. Instead, we (like everyone else) immediately identified a product.
As a business owner and marketer, I think, wow, what an accomplishment. I mean, who doesn’t want to be the next Kleenex… an entire commodity that has been identified by your brand?
To be honest, that’s a high bar to set, but I have to admit it’s not the only way to create a meaningful foothold in the market.
There are three things we do every day at Hookd that may not help you become a household name overnight, but they will help you achieve what’s most important… getting in front of your target audience when they are ready to engage. Here’s a brief explanation of each!
Organic SEO
We can all get confused with acronyms, but SEO essentially means showing up in the search results. It’s important because this is a critical point in time where your target audience wants to reach out and engage with you! Whether you’re familiar with it or not, it’s a foundational activity that will help define your online reputation and positively impact your future digital marketing efforts.
Paid Search
Not showing up in search results yet? You don’t have to wait for SEO to get you there! Paid search allows you to buy a listing on the front page of search results… right when your future clients need you most! The average person conducts between three and four searches each day, totalling 5.6 billion searches each day worldwide.* (Google)
Display Ads
Whether on Facebook, Google, or on your local radio station website, display ads help generate impressions and lead to web visitors, so it’s a great way to engage with your target audience directly. But just remember, not all impressions are created equal. Making sure that your impressions are in front of your target audience will help you achieve the results you’re looking for.
It might be great for your brand to become a household name, but at the end of the day, you probably don’t need to achieve that level of notoriety to achieve your business goals.
