You’re probably thinking …. Of course I know my target market! And you do probably have a great picture of the ideal customer who could benefit from your products or services. However, you might not be as dialed in on potential target markets as you think you are. Digital marketing can help you confirm your knowledge or provide new insights! Today we want to share a recent client example to get your wheels turning.

Learning about the Who

When working with our clients, we begin by diving into the details of their ideal customers. We use that information to craft ads that will attract that audience. The cool thing about digital marketing is that it can also provide insights into other groups who are interested in what you’re offering.

We’ve recently been working with a client who knows one ideal customer group of theirs is 30-50 year-old women. What we found when we started digital marketing ads was really interesting! Indeed, 30-50 year-old women responded to the ads. Surprisingly though, we found a large number of 18-24 year-old males responding as well! This was not an audience that was on our client’s radar as a group to really focus on.

The data we collected, and insights we were able to glean, lead us to change advertising platforms and include additional messaging to better appeal to each target market group.

And also the What

Not only can digital marketing give us insights into who is interested in your products and services, it also allows us to test and learn what messaging they respond to. This knowledge can help you in every way you speak to your customers, whether it be on your website, in traditional marketing or in your face-to-face sales process.

At the end of the day, what you think you know about your ideal client matters. It’s a great place to start. But, don’t be afraid to test and learn and leverage the power of data. The data digital marketing provides can lead you to insights that can grow your business in new ways!
